The SSL certificate is located in your web server and ensures secure internet connection between the web server and the client, e.g. an internet browser. When the web browser of the client connects to your web server, which is equipped with your SSL certificate (in this case, the address of the website begins with https://), the SSL certificate will encrypt this connection. Using the certificate will also increase the reliability of your website in the eyes of the users.
