Error: "Service 'Certificate Propagation' (CertPropSvc) failed to start"

This error shown on following screenshot is apparently caused by the fact that a service called ‘Certificate Propagation’ does not work or works under improper rights.

To start the ‘Certificate Propagation’ service you need to log onto your computer as an administrator. If your username has the rights of an administrator then please follow the steps below:

  1. From the Start menu select ‘Run’ and write ‘services.msc’ in the entry field. If your computer uses Windows Vista or 7 then you may write ‘services.msc’ into the search field of your Start menu and press ‘Enter’.
  2. Find ‘Certificate Propagation’ from the new window and make sure that the ‘Status’ of this service is ‘Started’ and the Startup Type is ‘Automatic’. 

If the fields display otherwise then change the settings accordingly. To change the values, double-click on the service name, make the changes and click on ‘OK’ to confirm;
