The updating period of certificates has ended

As of 1 April 2018, the certificates of ID-cards that were not updated between 24 October 2017 and 31 March 2018 have been revoked.

The following cards needed updating:

  • ID-cards issued from 16 October 2014;
  • residence permit cards issued from 17 December 2014;
  • digital ID-cards issued from 1 December 2014;
  • e-resident’s cards issued from 1 December 2014.

ID-cards issued from 26 October 2017 have new certificates that did not require updates.

An ID-card with revoked certificates is valid as an identity document until the date specified on the card, but it can no longer be used for logging in to e-services and providing digital signatures. However, the ID-card can still be used as a loyalty card as well as in pharmacies for presenting digital prescriptions.

If the need for the electronic use of an ID-card should arise in the future (i.e. for using e-services and providing digital signatures), then a new ID-card must be applied for from the Police and Border Guard Board and the state fee must be paid.
