One of the most important uses of digital stamps is the possibility to create digital signatures, which have many advantages over hand-written signatures, for instance, security, unforgeability, profitability, etc. According to the Digital Signatures Act, only signatures with a certificate that was valid during the time of signing are valid.
Validity confirmation and timestamping
The legal force was added to previously valid .ddoc and .bdoc signatures with the validity confirmation service (OCSP).
Since European countries and Estonia nowadays use the ASiC-E format, a timestamping service has to be used in addition to a validity confirmation service. In Estonia, the service is offered by SK ID Solutions.
