DigiDoc4 client error message: No smart card reader connected

The DigiDoc4 client displays the error message ‘No smart card reader connected’ if there are no smart card readers connected to the computer or if a smart card reader is disconnected while the DigiDoc4 client is running.


The error message should disappear after a smart card reader has been connected to the computer. 

If a card reader is connected to the computer and the error message is still displayed, the reason may be one of the following:

  • Installation of the card reader and its drivers was unsuccessful.
  • The driver of the ID-card has not been installed.

If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, please save a Diagnostics file in the DigiDoc4 client and send it to the ID helpline at www.id.ee (Ask for Help form in the bottom right corner) with the error description
