Instructions for preventing Mozilla Firefox browser from crashing

Firefox users may experience browser crashes when logging in to e-services and/or adding digital signatures. We recommend reading the instructions below to avoid these problems.

To avoid crashes, do the following:

  • Click on the menu icon (three bars) in the upper right corner of Mozilla Firefox and choose ‘Add-ons’

  • Click on the button ‘Extensions’ on the left, find IDEMIA PKCS11 loader’, and click on the button ‘Disable’.

  • Click on the menu icon (three bars) in the upper right corner of Mozilla Firefox and choose ‘Options’.

  • Choose ‘Privacy & Security’ from the menu on the left.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the button ‘Security Devices’.

  • From the opened window, choose the line ‘IDEMIA PKCS#11 Module’ and click on the button ‘Unload’.

If you are using a newer ID-card (issued from 3 December 2018), you will have to disable the Firefox PKCS 11 loader add-on. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Click on the menu icon (three bars) in the upper right corner of Mozilla Firefox and choose ‘Add-ons’.

  • Click on the button ‘Extensions’ on the left, find ‘Firefox PKCS 11 loader’, and click on the button ‘Disable’.
