The Information System Authority (RIA) is extending support for the Windows 10 operating system in ID software until the autumn of 2027. The previous plan was to end Windows 10 support in the ID software in the autumn of 2026.
The change stems from Microsoft's decision to extend the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10. For Windows 10 devices enrolled in the ESU program, Microsoft provides critical and important security updates until 12 October, 2027. Consequently, RIA plans to continue supporting Windows 10 in future versions of the ID software as well.
With the continuation of Windows 10 support, the technical dependencies of the ID software and the support for the components used must be taken into account. If technical prerequisites change, this may also affect the duration of Windows 10 support in the ID software.
However, RIA recommends upgrading to the Windows 11 operating system whenever possible, as official product support for Windows 10 has ended, and receiving security updates requires the device to meet the conditions of the ESU program. Using an up-to-date operating system supported by the manufacturer helps reduce security risks and ensure software reliability.
