Mac OS X (10.10 Yosemite and older) users that are experiencing problems with ID-card usage should follow these steps:
- First make sure you have installed the required web components from installer.id.ee.
- NB! Web components have to be renewed if you have updated your operating system (ex. 10.9 > 10.10)
- After installing web components, restart your computer (keep card reader connected to USB port if possible).
- Make sure that KeyChain Access identifies the document in the card reader. If it cant then restart your computer.

- Make sure that ID-card browers add-on's are enabled, instructions can be found at https://www.id.ee/index.php?id=36639
- DigiDoc3 client and ID-card utility have to be closed for authentication and digital signing in web browsers to succeed, close them with QUIT menu choice or with CMD+q.
- After digitally signing with ID-card in web browser it may not be possible to authenticate during the same browser session. When authentication doesnt work after digital signing:
- Close all browser windows - NB! Always use the Quit button as otherwise the browser can stay working in the background.
- Remove card reader and reconnect it with USB port.
- Insert ID-card in the reader and try again.
- If you still cant use your ID-card then:
- Check if your computer has Avast security software installed, if it does then temporarily disable it.
- When possible, try different web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari), preferred web browser for Mac OS X is Mozilla Firefox.
