On 15 January, Microsoft rolled out the automatic update to their web browser, Edge. In order to give digital signatures with the ID-card while using e-services with Edge, users will need to update their browser settings themselves.
Microsoft is updating the web browser Edge, meant for Windows 10. As the browser is moving to the new Chromium architecture, the users who give digital signatures with the ID-card in e-services directly in Edge need to take a few steps to make sure the signing works in the new version as well. Instructions for changing the settings of the browser are at the end of the message.
In the previous version of Edge, the user also had to change the settings of the browser themselves. When changing the settings of the new Edge, one more step needs to be taken compared to before, as the ID software extension (plug-in) is not yet available in the Microsoft Store and must therefore be installed through the Chrome Web Store. In the near future, the extension will also be made available in Microsoft Store, just like it was for the earlier version.
The update concerns users who use the web browser Edge to give digital signatures with the ID-card in e-services; documents can be signed and encrypted as usual with the DigiDoc4 software. At the end of January 2020, RIA will release the new DigiDoc4 software, which will enable digital signing with Smart-ID.
