After negotiating with the Firefox developer, the latest version of the browser (version 77.0) allows Windows users to once again authenticate themselves with an ID-card.
Soon, the Information System Authority will release a new version of the ID software that will make it possible to use the ID-card in the Edge Chromium browser and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
The new ID software version ends support for Windows 7 and macOS 10.11 operating systems. This means that the Information System Authority will not test whether the ID software is running smoothly on Windows 7 and macOS 10.11, nor does it develop new versions for those systems. We encourage people using these operating systems to upgrade their devices, as their vulnerabilities will no longer be fixed, and user support will not be able to help with problems.

The latest version of the ID software for Windows will be released this week and for macOS and Ubuntu users in two weeks.
