The Windows update released on March 10 resolves an issue with new ID-cards that prevented the DigiDoc4 app from recognizing them. RIA recommends downloading and installing the latest Windows software update to ensure trouble-free use of your ID-card.
After installing the Windows 11 update released on 24 February, users may have experienced issues when using Thales ID-cards. As a result, the DigiDoc4 application might have failed to detect the ID-card, and authentication with the ID-card might not work in e-services that do not use the Web eID solution. In e-services where authentication and signing are performed using the Web eID solution, the Thales ID-card continued to function normally.
The issue affected Thales ID-cards issued from 17 November 2025 onward and was related to the Windows update. After installing the update, the DigiDoc4 application might not detect the ID-card, and authentication with the ID-card might fail in e-services that have not yet transitioned to the Web eID solution.
The Windows software update (KB5079473) released on March 10 includes a fix that restored the normal functioning of Thales-ID cards in the DigiDoc4 application and in e-services that do not use the Web eID solution.
