To use a digital seal and encryption certificate issued on a crypto-stick with DigiDoc4, you will need:
- SafeNet Authentication Client software must be installed on your computer along with the ID-software.
- SafeNet Authentication Client software must be used to change or unlock the PIN code.
- Note: If you have a macOS, you will need to install the DigiDoc4 Client application in .zip format from GitHub.
Signing with a digital seal
The process of signing with a digital seal is very similar to signing with the ID-card. The only difference is that a SafeNet Authentication Client dialogue window will come up when the PIN code is entered.
- Connect the crypto-stick to your computer.
- Open DigiDoc4 and make sure that the digital seal data are pulled correctly from the crypto-stick.
- Choose the document for signing.
- Press the “Sign with e-Seal” button.
- This will bring up a SafeNet Authentication Client dialogue window. Enter the crypto-stick’s PIN code and press OK:
- This will create a digitally sealed document, to which signatures given by ID-card can be added.
Decrypting a file encrypted by digital seal
Opening encrypted documents using a crypto-stick and digital seal certificates works the same way as with the ID-card.
- Connect the crypto-stick to your computer.
- Double-click on the name of the encrypted document (.cdoc file).
- This will bring up DigiDoc4 – if it does not open, open it manually yourself and select “CRYPTO“.
- Once the crypto-stick has been inserted correctly, DigiDoc4 will read the encryption certificate data off of it.
- Press the DECRYPT button in the lower right corner of the screen.
- This will bring up the “SafeNet Authentication Client” PIN dialogue window.
- Enter the crypto-stick’s PIN code and press OK.
- The document is now decrypted and ready to be opened!
