All software needs to be updated occasionally: it doesn’t matter whether it’s a smart phone or a computer, a programme for work or something that simply helps you spend your time. If your computer recommends that you update the ID-software or its components (for example, the DigiDoc4 Client), take it seriously and update the software the first chance you get!

Document encryption helps to protect the contents of files from unauthorised access: encrypted documents (with the extension .cdoc) can only be opened with the ID-card of a person authorised to do so. The contents of the document will remain protected from everybody else. For instance, encryption is necessary if you forward confidential information via e-mail and wish to maintain the confidentiality of the contents of the files if they should fall into the wrong hands.

If your PIN code is blocked, you can conveniently unlock it again with the DigiDoc4 application. For this you need your PUK code.

Mobile-ID is a modern, convenient, safe and nationally recognised digital identity card that lets you use an online bank quickly and easily, participate in e-elections, manage eesti.ee services and so on. Unlike an ID-card, a mobile-ID does not require a card reader or a computer with special software: mobile phones and an appropriate call card/phone contract are enough.

Digital signing is very simple.
Firstly, you need to decide which tool you want to use for signing: your ID-card, mobile-ID or Smart-ID.
If you are using your ID-card, insert it into the card reader, connect the reader to your computer and launch the DigiDoc4 Client.
